The Japanese Cultural Festival 2024 | Department of Japanese Studies, CUHK Menu

The Japanese Cultural Festival 2024, hosted by the Japanese Studies Society, was a remarkable event that brought together students, enthusiasts, and esteemed guests to celebrate and explore the rich and vibrant aspects of Japanese culture.

The festival showcased a diverse range of captivating booth activities that allowed participants to fully immerse themselves in the Japanese experience. Attendees had the opportunity to try on traditional yukata, engage in exciting booth games, create personalized ema plaques, and indulge in delectable Japanese snacks. Each society involved in the festival also demonstrated their creativity through the creation of unique and beautifully designed souvenirs.

The highlight of the festival was the grand celebration ceremony held on March 27, 2024. This event was graced by the presence of Consul-General Kenichi Okada and Consul Ko Nakano from the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong. We were honoured to share this moment with them and delighted to have the opportunity to accompany them on a school tour and visit the various booth activities.

The ceremony featured a memorable kendo performance by the Kendo Club from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), showcasing the precision and discipline associated with this traditional Japanese martial art form.

The Japanese Cultural Festival 2024 was an outstanding success, thanks to the dedication and hard work of the Japanese Studies Society, the Japanese Culture Society, the Animation & Comic Society, the Doujin Culture Society, and the Kendo Club from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), for their invaluable contributions in making this festival a memorable and enjoyable experience. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
