On 19th October, the Department of Japanese Studies welcomed a large number of prospective students and parents to CUHK Info Day 2024. It was a privilege to meet so many eager students and parents who were excited to learn more about our programme.
The academic counselling session, led by Prof. HO Chi Ming, Deputy Chair and Associate Professor, and Dr. LIN Chaochun, Chalyn, were conducted in English, Cantonese, and Putonghua. This session offered attendees an in-depth overview of the programme, covering the course structure, admission requirements, curriculum highlights, and career opportunities. We were also fortunate to have WONG Lok Hin Ivan, a Year 4 student, share his enriching experience as an exchange student in Japan and discuss his Final Year Project.
At our exhibition booth, student representatives greeted visitors, distributing our undergraduate programme brochure along with souvenirs from the Faculty of Arts and the department. The booth provided a great opportunity for prospective students and parents to ask questions about academic expectations, student life, and potential career paths, gaining firsthand insights from those currently pursuing the programme.
The Japanese Studies Sharing Session, organized by the Japanese Studies Society, featured an engaging panel discussion where guests had the chance to directly interact with our students. The session also included traditional Japanese mini-games, offering a fun, interactive introduction to Japanese culture. Continuing a beloved tradition, we invited visitors and students to express their creativity by drawing their favorite anime characters on the classroom whiteboard, sharing their passion for Japanese pop culture.
For those unable to attend, or for those seeking to revisit the academic counselling session, recordings are available in three languages:
- English session: Led by Prof. HO Chi Ming
- Cantonese session: Led by Prof. HO Chi Ming
- Mandarin session: Led by Dr. LIN Chaochun, Chalyn
Thank you for your interest in our programme. We look forward to welcoming you to future events and to being a part of your academic journey at CUHK.
Warm regards,
The Department of Japanese Studies
