Scholarship

The MA Programme in Japanese Studies offers scholarships to students with outstanding academic achievements as a form of encouragement. The selection criteria and the award details are as follows:

Selection Criteria

Eligibility
The scholarship will be awarded to the top students of Master of Arts in Japanese Studies (MAJS) based on their cumulative GPA after the completion of 24 credits.

 Selection Process

  • Nominations are typically made in August of each academic year, for both full-time and part-time MAJS students. The number of awardees depends on the Department’s selection.
  • The cumulative GPA used for evaluation must be based on official academic records available at the time of nomination.
  • Students on academic probation or with disciplinary records may be deemed ineligible.

Tie-Breaking Policy

  • In the event of a tie in cumulative GPA, the scholarship amount will be shared equally among all eligible recipients.

Notification and Awardee Presentation

  • Successful recipients will be notified via email or phone.
  • The awards will be formally presented at MAJS Graduation Party. 

Deferral and Withdrawal

  • The scholarship cannot be deferred or transferred.
  • If a recipient withdraws from the programme before or immediately after nominated, the award will be forfeited.

Amount/Award

A total of HKD 30,000, to be equally shared among all eligible awardees.

 

* The availability and particulars of the scholarship may vary from year to year. In the event of any discrepancies between the English version and its translated versions, the English version shall prevail.
