助教授
カイル・ピーターズは香港中文大学の日本研究学科助教。2021年8月、シカゴ大学大学院の東アジア言語文化研究科より博士号を取得。2022年から2023年、ハーバード大学のライシャワー日本研究所ポストドクトラルフェローである。研究テーマは日本の文化史とメディア研究、特に近代日本の哲学、美学、文学、雑誌文化である。
現プロジェクト『京都学派と全体性』(Kyoto School and Totality)では京都学派の「自己形成」という全体的な概念に注目し、分析する。とりわけ、京都学派と近代の印刷文化との関連を強調し、京都学派が世界的・近代的な社会問題に即して、「自己形成的」な社会全体論を展開したことを主張する。研究対象は、哲学者の西田幾多郎、和辻哲郎、三木清、中井正一等、また雑誌の「思想」、「哲学研究」、「新興科学の旗のもとに」、「美・批評」、「土曜日」等である。
さらに、中井正一を英語圏に紹介する原稿・翻訳プロジェクトを行う予定である。
