Postdoctoral Fellow in Gender and Personal Finance – (2300019M)

Applications are invited for postdoctoral fellowship to serve as a researcher and manager of a public-service project on the empowerment of women and other marginal groups through personal financial management and education.


Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Social Work, Gender Studies, China, Hong Kong or Japan Studies, Economics, Business, Personal Finance, Financial Education, or a related discipline obtained within the last three years; (ii) native or near-native fluency in English and Cantonese; (iii) excellent communication, organizational and management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as with a team; (iv) outstanding research potential; and (v) a strong sense of responsibility. Willingness to conduct basic seminars to the public in financial education is preferred. 
Duties include (a) serving as the manager and primary representative of a public-service project that aims to provide financial education to women and other marginalized groups; (b) working with a team of collaborators on a research project that involves conducting interviews, creating and analyzing questionnaires, writing research grant proposals and writing research papers; (c) participating in activities organized by the Department and its research centre; (d) giving public-service and research talks; (e) working with master’s and doctoral students; and (f) performing other departmental tasks as assigned.  
Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year commencing August 2023.
