Applications are invited for postdoctoral fellowship in Japanese Studies. Applicants should (i) have a PhD degree in Japanese Studies or a related discipline obtained within the last three years; (ii) have native or near-native fluency in English and Japanese; (iii) be able to teach intermediate level of undergraduate courses related to Japanese studies; (iv) have outstanding research potential in a related field; (v) have good communication skills and the ability to work independently; and (vi) have a strong sense of responsibility.
Duties include (a) conducting research projects and assisting in writing research grant proposals; (b) teaching undergraduate course(s); (c) assisting class materials preparation, course administration and student interface for MA courses; (d) participating in activities organized both by the Department and the Research Centre for Comparative Japanese Studies; (e) giving public talks; (f) working with master and doctoral students; and (g) performing other departmental tasks as assigned.
Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year commencing August 2023.
